The biggest mistake a diver or anybody else can make is underestimate the huge ocean wave energy. It’s not like the energy that surfers are dealing with, even if it could be sometimes very strong, but this is just the wave energy at the surface. The real huge energy is under water. Just think for a second how much ocean energy is needed to move that huge volume of water.
While the waters were very calm the diver John Hoover was exploring the waters near the North Shore of Maui, Hawaii. Suddenly the waters behavior changed.
John is an experienced diver, author and underwater photographe that documented with his team the ocean wildlife.
And when everything was smooth, a big wave crashed into the rocks at the surface creating an under water hurricane !
Despite that wave; John decided to take a closer look, but then…
John went a little too far and was taken very fast by the current and swept away…Watching that looks gives me anxiety !
Here is the video to see exactly how it happened…
Fortunately John survived that ocean wave energy. And even if he’s very used to ocean currents but i bet that it was terrifying for him !
